Plant and equipment will be covered along with examples of construction.

Design

Jenny Burridge, of The Concrete Centre will talk about watertight concrete design, waterproofing, resisting water pressure and drained cavities. Design methods and control of basement environments through design. Crack widths and concrete mix design and quality for varying ground conditions will also be presented. One hour presentation.

Geotechnical Considerations

The geotechnical engineer, tba will cover earth and water pressures basements have to be designed to resist. Type of basement wall construction and its behaviour covering: diaphragm walls, secant pile walls and contiguous pile walls will be reviewed along with open cut and traditional stem retaining walls.
