BS 8102:2022 published by BSI
1 Apr 2022
BSI has published the revised BS 8102 (Protection of below ground structures against water ingress. Code of practice). The update reflects developments in materials and best practice since the previous version was published in 2009.
Kevin Dodds, Chairman of The Basement Information Centre and Director at Delta Membrane Systems, led the revision. The following TBIC members were also represented on the committee: The Concrete Centre, Property Care Association, NHBC, Newton Waterproofing, Sika, GCP Applied Technologies.
BS 8102 provides guidance on the design and construction of systems to prevent and manage water ingress. A key change in the revised standard is the grades of performance, which have been amended to provide greater clarity.
As previous versions, the standard outlines three types of waterproofing protection: Type A (barrier), Type B (structurally integral) and Type C (drained cavity). The revision gives more detailed guidance on the use of each type of protection.
BS 8102:2022 is available to purchase from BSI here.
