The Property Care Association (PCA) is the UK’s leading trade association representing specialists across the UK who can be trusted to provide property care services, including structural waterproofing. It represents over 400 members that include specialist contractors, product manufacturers, consultants and independent surveyors.
The PCA sets standards for the industry through codes of practice for underground waterproofing, best practice guidance for waterproofing systems, and through its professional industry recognised training and qualifications, including the “Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing” (CSSW) qualification.
Structural waterproofing below ground is highly specialised. British Standard BS8102 for “Protection of structures against water from the ground” recommends that a specialist in waterproofing be included in the design team for any structure where usable space is fully or partly below ground level. The PCA has developed a Waterproofing Design Specialist Register to help architects, builders and developers to identify those PCA members who have the required qualifications, experience and knowledge to act as a waterproofing design specialist on underground projects.
